Amuru District Officials Participate in Regional Cross-Border Consultation Workshop on Disaster Displacement

Three officials from Amuru District Local Government are attending the Regional Cross-Border Consultation Workshop on Disaster Displacement held on February 10, 2026.

The district is represented by Olum John Bosco Okello (District Community Development Officer), Patrick Lubangakene (District Planner), and Ajok Doreen Lanyero (District Natural Resources Officer).

The workshop, organized by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in partnership with the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC), convened representatives from cross-border regions such as Moyale, Karamoja, and Mandera. The consultations focus on developing coordinated and sustainable solutions to displacement caused by climate shocks, guided by the IGAD Free Movement Protocol.

Participation in this regional dialogue reflects Amuru District Local Government’s continued commitment to strengthening climate resilience, enhancing cross-border cooperation, and addressing the growing challenges of climate-induced displacement.
